For an idyllic pre-Christmas getaway this year, we are offering a special break combining our cosy, picture-perfect setting with the bustling Christmas market in the gem town of Cockermouth close by.

On Saturday the 12th of December Taste Christmas, a yuletide festival celebrating the very best of Cumbria’s produce, will take over Cockermouth and offer a Christmas market, cookery demonstrations and festive tastings, providing the perfect opportunity for some seasonal retail therapy.

If you are visiting us over this weekend, you can take advantage of our Taste Christmas Escape to visit the festival and enjoy two nights’ accommodation in a sumptuous bedroom complete with thoughtful touches including antique furniture, proper china tea services, Egyptian cotton linens, Roberts radios and soft, warm throws to keep toasty, as well as the following treats…

  • Afternoon tea by the fire on arrival.
  • A hearty breakfast each morning.
  • Dinner on the first evening.
  • A lavish cheese board with a bottle of good wine on the second evening.
